The term Eclectic can be defined as:
1. selecting or choosing from various sources.
2. made up of what is selected from different sources.
3. not following any one system, as of philosophy, religion, etc., but selecting and using what are considered the best elements of all systems.
So, in that definition a person may consider themselves eclectic because they borrow from different belief systems, quite frequently within the Neo-Pagan community, some may refer to themselves as eclectic or having eclectic beliefs and take a belief in one path and mix it with another path.
I am Eclectic. My Mix: Occultism, Paganism, Witchcraft, Wicca, Satanism, Atheism, Mysticism, Shamanism, Native American Spirituality, New Age Philosophy, Heathenry, Druidry, Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Eco-Spirituality, Necromancy, Alchemy, Spiritualism, Voodooism, Hoodooism, Santeriaism, Darwinism, Vampirism, Platonism, Aristotelianism, Gnosticism, Holisticim, Metaphysical Philosophy, Jungism, Naturalism, Universalism, Transcendentalism. To name a few.
Are you eclectic? What paths do you "borrow" from?
